Updated October 26, 2026. Your guide to the Halloween stretch, October 29–November 1.
On Cape Cod, Halloween is not confined to one neighborhood or one night. It spills into village shops, historic houses, museum galleries and brewery taprooms. Children can parade through Mashpee Commons before collecting candy on Main Street in Falmouth; grown-ups can trade the trick-or-treat bag for a costume ball in Cotuit or a full weekend of shows in Provincetown.
And this year, Halloween falls on a Saturday. That gives the Cape room for a proper build-up: Thursday comedy and historical storytelling, Friday museum celebrations and live music, then a Saturday packed with daytime festivals, early-evening candy stops and late-night parties.
Here is how to make sense of it all. We have organized the upcoming events by day and experience, with the practical details that matter before you leave home. Some overlap, some require reservations, and a few have age or residency restrictions. Follow the organizer links for current availability and last-minute changes.
Start here: which Cape Cod Halloween outing fits your plans?
- For a daytime family outing: Mashpee Commons, Dennis Halloweenpalooza and the Cahoon Museum all have Saturday programs.
- For trick-or-treating: consider Falmouth Village, Hyannis Main Street, the Wellfleet Drive-In festival or Cape Cod Church in East Falmouth. Their hours differ, so choose your route before heading out.
- For something atmospheric: step into Falmouth's historic Wicks House, visit the Edward Gorey House celebration or book Haunted Hallows in Mashpee.
- For a costume-and-music night: look at Cotuit Center for the Arts, Cape Cod Beer, Chatham Bars Inn or Naukabout.
- For a whole Halloween getaway: Provincetown's October 29–November 1 celebration combines drag, dancing and costume parties.

Thursday, October 29: ease into Halloween weekend
Bourne Recreation Trunk or Treat — Bourne
When: Thursday, October 29, 5–6 p.m. Where: Bourne Veterans Memorial Community Center parking lot.
For Bourne families, the weekend starts before Friday. The recreation department's trunk-or-treat brings decorated vehicles and candy into one gathering place. This is a registration-based program, not a stop to assume is open to everyone: the listing identifies it as free for residents. Check the guest registration requirements before packing the costumes, and use the separate car-decorator registration if you want to take part from the other side of the candy bowl.
Bourne program details and registration
Sins, Sips, and Secrets — Falmouth
When: Thursday, October 29, 6–7 p.m.; refreshments begin at 5:30 p.m. Where: Falmouth Museums on the Green, 55–65 Palmer Avenue. Admission: $35 members; $45 nonmembers.
Not every Halloween story needs a masked actor jumping from the shadows. At the Wicks House, the intrigue comes from the historical record. This small-group program draws on diaries and newspaper accounts to uncover stories room by room, with libations included. The fifteen-person tour limit makes this a reserve-ahead evening rather than a casual drop-in; check in at the Cultural Center before the house portion begins.
Tour information and reservations
Halloween Comedy Competition — Mashpee
When: Thursday, October 29, 6:30–9:30 p.m. Where: Naukabout, 13 Lake Avenue. Admission: Ticketed.
Naukabout gives Halloween an early comic turn with a competition in which the audience helps decide the outcome. The prize includes an opening spot for Lenny Clarke, adding a real stake to the night's laughs. If your ideal seasonal outing is a taproom evening instead of a haunted trail, this is one to put on the Thursday list. Check the ticket page for entry conditions and availability.
Friday, October 30: museums, music and the first costume parties
Wicked at Wicks — Falmouth
When: Friday, October 30, 4–5:30 p.m.; costume parade at 4:45 p.m. Where: Falmouth Museums on the Green, 55–65 Palmer Avenue. Admission: Free, with donations welcomed; preregister children.
The museum campus becomes a children's Halloween gathering, with trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting and storytelling. The 1790 Wicks House provides the setting, but this is a family celebration rather than the evening historical tour. Arrive with enough time to enjoy the activities before the 4:45 parade. The museum asks families to register children in advance; accompanying adults do not need their own registration.
Wicked at Wicks information and registration
Night at the Museum — Sandwich

When: Friday, October 30, 5–7 p.m. Where: Sandwich Glass Museum. Admission: $15 per person; check ticket availability.
Glassblowing takes on a different character after dark. This after-hours museum evening pairs that spectacle with kid-friendly short films, popcorn, candy and drinks. It is a useful option for families who want Halloween atmosphere without committing to a scare attraction. Tickets are limited by availability, so check the museum's booking page before making it the centerpiece of your Friday plans.
Halloween Party at Cape Cod Beer — Hyannis
When: Friday, October 30, 6–9 p.m. Where: Cape Cod Beer, 1336 Phinneys Lane. Admission: Free.
The brewery's Friday celebration pairs costumes with live music from Just Like That. There are costume prizes, giving anyone who has spent the week assembling an elaborate outfit a reason to show it off before Saturday. Think of this as a music-led Halloween evening rather than a children's candy stop; consult the brewery's current event listing for its entry and service policies.
Cape Cod Beer Halloween party details
Art & Souls Masquerade Ball: Monster Mash — Cotuit
When: Friday, October 30, 7:30–10:30 p.m. Where: Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Falmouth Road. Admission: $10.
DJ Ian Lee supplies the soundtrack for a costume party at the arts center, with refreshments and prizes for the scariest, funniest and group costumes. That last category makes this a natural pick for friends who want a shared theme. Confirm any age conditions with the center when booking, and plan to stay for the dancing rather than treating it as a quick photo stop.
Masquerade ball details and tickets
Adult Boo Bash — Chatham
When: Friday, October 30; doors 7:30 p.m., music 8–10 p.m. Where: Chatham Bars Inn. Admission: $40, including one drink. Ages: 21+.
This is Chatham's dress-up-and-go-out option: Cape Connection plays with a horn player, and a costume contest adds to the evening. The party is open to locals as well as hotel guests and members. Reserve through the inn's event page or concierge, and remember that the opening time and the band's start are different. This one belongs firmly on the adults' itinerary.

Saturday, October 31: Halloween with the family
Halloween Fun at Mashpee Commons — Mashpee

When: Saturday, October 31: Village Green party 11 a.m.–1 p.m.; shop trick-or-treating 11 a.m.–3 p.m.; costume parade 1 p.m.; Central Square festivities noon–3 p.m. Admission: Free.
Mashpee Commons offers one of the day's most flexible family outings. Start on the Village Green for music, balloons, activities and a dog costume contest, then follow the children's-and-pups parade at 1 p.m., led by the Mashpee Middle-High School band. Participating shops display trick-or-treat signs, with candy available while supplies last. Central Square has its own music and activities. Note the hours carefully: shop trick-or-treating ends at 3 p.m., and roads close for the parade from 1–1:30 p.m.
Full Mashpee Commons Halloween schedule
Halloweenpalooza — South Dennis
When: Saturday, October 31, noon–4 p.m. Where: Johnny Kelley Field. Admission: Free; food and other purchases are separate.
Halloweenpalooza makes an afternoon of it, with a magician, face painting, balloon animals, live music, a candy haunt and food trucks. There is also a cornhole tournament. It is a good candidate for families who would rather settle into one festival than shuttle among several short stops. Bring money for optional purchases; the organizer advertises beer and wine for $5, cash only.

Falmouth Village Halloween Stroll — Falmouth
When: Saturday, October 31, 1–3 p.m. Where: Participating Main Street businesses.
This is the classic village version of Halloween: costumes, candy and a walk along Main Street. Participating businesses hand out treats during the afternoon window, making it a different experience from neighborhood trick-or-treating after dark. It can stand on its own as a manageable family outing, or serve as the first stop before a later event. Keep children close while moving between shops and crossing streets.
Falmouth Village stroll details
Fall Festival at the Cahoon Museum of American Art — Cotuit
When: Saturday, October 31, 1–3 p.m. Where: 4676 Falmouth Road. Admission: $17 adults; $5 children; free for members.
For a Halloween afternoon with an artistic bent, the Cahoon's fall festival brings crafts and treats together with the museum's exhibitions. The two-hour program works well for families who enjoy making something as much as collecting candy. Allow time to see the art rather than rushing straight through the activities, and check the museum's current admission details when planning your group.
Cahoon fall festival information
Halloween Family Fun at Naukabout — Mashpee
When: Saturday, October 31, 1–3 p.m. Where: Naukabout, 13 Lake Avenue.
The brewery's daytime Halloween program features a bounce house and face painting. It is a separate event from the ticketed, 21-and-over concert later that night, so do not assume that arriving for one provides admission to the other. Check the venue listing for any activity charges and weather updates before heading over.
Wellfleet Trunk or Treat Festival — South Wellfleet
When: Saturday, October 31, 3–6 p.m. Where: Wellfleet Drive-In, Route 6. Admission: Free; confirm participation guidance with the organizer.
The drive-in trades the usual movie-night routine for a community Halloween festival. The organizer advertises free hot dogs and cider alongside the trunk-or-treat celebration. Before traveling from another town, check the festival's current attendance guidance; community programs can have participation rules that are not obvious from a short calendar listing. Leave time for arrival and parking rather than aiming for the final few minutes.
Wellfleet festival information
Safe Trick or Treat — Hyannis Main Street
When: Saturday, October 31, 4–6 p.m. Where: Hyannis Main Street.
Hyannis puts its Main Street businesses at the center of an early-evening trick-or-treat outing. The 4 p.m. start makes it an option after an afternoon activity, but there is no need to fit every festival into one day. Pick a sensible route, watch the crossings and use the business district's listing for any final participation or weather announcements.
Hyannis Main Street event details
Trunk or Treat at Cape Cod Church — East Falmouth
When: Saturday, October 31, 4–7 p.m. Where: 1205 Nathan Ellis Highway.
This East Falmouth option runs later into the evening than the village stroll. The date, location and three-hour window are listed in the Mashpee Public Schools community calendar. Check the church's current announcements before attending for any parking, weather or participation updates; do not assume that an earlier year's activity lineup will be repeated.
Haunted Halloween on the Common — Yarmouth Port

When: Saturday, October 31, 4–7:30 p.m. at the Edward Gorey House. Where: 8 Strawberry Lane. Admission: Free during the Halloween event.
Few Cape settings are better suited to a slightly eccentric Halloween than the Edward Gorey House. The celebration includes treats and tarot, with neighboring institutions also participating around the common. The important distinction is timing: the Gorey House's regular paid admission runs earlier in the day; free Halloween admission begins at 4 p.m. Neighboring stops may keep different hours, so check their schedules separately rather than assuming one shared closing time.

Haunted nights and a seasonal display worth a detour
Haunted Hallows and Halloweentown Market — Mashpee
When: Remaining Friday and Saturday dates, October 30–31; market 5–9 p.m. Where: Mashpee Commons Village Green, 4 Job's Fishing Road.
These are two connected but different experiences. Halloweentown Market brings vendors, food trucks, cider and the Naukabout Beer Garden to the Village Green. Haunted Hallows is the separately ticketed immersive scare attraction. You can browse the market without treating the haunted experience as a required part of the evening. If you do want the scares, reserve an available time slot and check the attraction's age guidance directly; this is not a program to label automatically suitable for small children.
Market and seasonal program details · Haunted Hallows tickets and entry guidance
Pumpkinpalooza: Pumpkin People in the Park — Chatham
When: On display through Sunday, November 1. Where: Kate Gould Park, Main Street.
Halloween does not have to mean another scheduled admission. Chatham's Pumpkin People give you a seasonal stop that can fit around lunch, a Main Street walk or one of the weekend's bigger events. Local businesses, nonprofits and community members create the displays, so part of the pleasure is seeing how differently people interpret the same autumn tradition. This is an ongoing installation, not a claim that Chatham's earlier October festival is still taking place.

Halloween night: costumes, live music and adults' outings
Mermaids & Monsters — East Falmouth
When: Saturday, October 31, 11:30 a.m.–7 p.m. Where: Cape Cod Winery, 4 Oxbow Road.
The winery's Halloween event has a long daytime-to-evening window, giving it a different rhythm from a late-night costume ball. Use the winery's event page to check the current program, ticket requirements and age policy before choosing it for your group. A winery setting should not be treated as confirmation that every advertised activity is either adults-only or child-friendly.
Winery Halloween event details
King Jeremy Halloween Bash — Mashpee
When: Saturday, October 31; doors 6 p.m., music 7 p.m. Where: Naukabout, 13 Lake Avenue. Ages: 21+. Admission: Ticketed.
King Jeremy brings its Pearl Jam anthology to Naukabout for an indoor Halloween show with costume prizes. This is a dedicated ticketed concert, and the brewery is closed to the general public during the performance. Book for the show itself rather than assuming a normal taproom visit will get you in. The earlier family program is separate.
Halloween in Provincetown: make a weekend of it
Provincetown's Halloween celebration runs October 29–November 1, and the best plan depends on whether you want a show, a dance floor or both. The following are individual scheduled events, not a promise that one ticket covers the entire weekend. Check age policies and ticket terms for each booking. The Crown & Anchor events below take place at 247 Commercial Street.
Wave of Terror with VJ Tom Yaz — Thursday, October 29
Start the weekend at Wave Bar at 8 p.m. This no-cover event is an alternative to committing to a ticketed stage show on your first night. Check the venue's entry policy before arriving. Wave of Terror details.
Witch Perfect — Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31
The live-singing Hocus Pocus drag parody brings Tina Burner, Scarlet Envy and Alexis Michelle to the Crown at 7 p.m. on both nights. It is a ticketed show, so select the correct date when booking. A performance can anchor the evening before a later party, provided you allow time between venues and check each event's separate admission requirements. Friday tickets · Saturday tickets.
Mixtape with James Jackson Jr. — Friday, October 30
The Crown's restaurant courtyard hosts this no-cover event from 9–11 p.m. It gives Friday-night visitors another choice alongside the ticketed parties; confirm current venue entry rules and conditions for the courtyard program. Mixtape details.
Mother Disco: Spooky Bear — Friday, October 30
The disco-prom party starts at 9 p.m. at the Crown. Make this your Friday choice if the point of the outfit is to dance in it. Tickets and event-specific entry conditions are listed separately from the venue's shows and no-cover programs. Mother Disco information and tickets.
Crown Ghouls Drag Brunch — Saturday, October 31
Halloween starts before noon at the Crown, with the drag brunch scheduled from 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Reserve the correct Halloween date and check what the ticket includes before booking; do not assume the meal and drinks are automatically bundled into admission. Halloween drag brunch details.
Death Becomes Them: Spooky Bear Costume Ball — Saturday, October 31
The Crown's 9 p.m. costume ball brings a Roaring Twenties theme to Halloween night, with Jan Sport, Tina Burner, DJ Jake Glass and VJ Tom Yaz on the announced lineup. This is the late-night option for anyone ready to build the evening around a full costume party. Check tickets and age restrictions in advance. Costume ball information and tickets.
For additional venues and weekend announcements, consult the Provincetown Business Guild's Halloween calendar.
Build a Halloween plan that leaves room to enjoy it
With younger children: choose one daytime anchor, then decide whether anyone still has energy for an early-evening candy stop. Mashpee Commons, Dennis Halloweenpalooza and the Cahoon festival overlap; visiting all three would turn an enjoyable afternoon into a driving exercise.
For an Upper Cape day: Falmouth's Main Street stroll runs 1–3 p.m., while the East Falmouth church event runs 4–7 p.m. They offer a possible afternoon-to-evening pairing, but allow for food, parking and the drive between them.
For a Mid-Cape evening: Hyannis Main Street and the Gorey House celebration overlap. Choose based on whether you want a shop-to-shop candy route or a historic-house-and-common atmosphere.
For a Provincetown weekend: book the must-see ticketed event first, then build the rest around it. A Friday show, Saturday brunch and Saturday costume ball are separate reservations, not a package. Plan safe transportation before the evening begins.
Cape Cod Halloween questions, answered
When is Halloween in 2026?
Halloween is Saturday, October 31, 2026. The upcoming Cape events in this guide begin Thursday, October 29, with Chatham's Pumpkin People display continuing through Sunday, November 1.
Which Halloween events on Cape Cod are free?
Confirmed free options include Mashpee Commons' daytime Halloween celebration, Dennis Halloweenpalooza, Cape Cod Beer's Friday party and the Edward Gorey House's Halloween admission window. Wellfleet's festival also advertises free admission, but check participation guidance. Bourne's recreation event is free for residents and requires registration. Optional food, drinks and separately ticketed attractions can cost extra.
Where can children trick-or-treat on Cape Cod?
Saturday options include Mashpee Commons shops, Falmouth Village, Hyannis Main Street, Wellfleet's trunk-or-treat festival and Cape Cod Church in East Falmouth. Wicked at Wicks offers a Friday family celebration with trick-or-treating. Use the individual entries for times and registration rules rather than assuming they all follow neighborhood evening hours.
Can I bring my dog?
Mashpee Commons specifically includes pups in its costume parade and advertises a dog costume contest. That does not establish pet access at every shop, museum, haunt or party. Confirm each venue's animal policy before including a dog in your plans.
What happens if it rains?
Do not assume an outdoor event will move indoors or use a rain date from a previous year. Check the organizer's linked page and current social announcements on the day. Museum programs, shows and indoor concerts may provide alternatives, subject to ticket availability and their own operating decisions.
Does this guide include events that already happened?
No. This edition focuses on the upcoming Halloween stretch as of October 26. Earlier October celebrations are not presented as events you can still attend.
